Do you know what's in your skincare?

When you read the ingredient list on your beauty products, are you able to decipher what the ingredients are?

Ingredients on your health + beauty products are required to be listed using the International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients (INCI) names - leaving you with a lot of big words and not a lot of clarity.

Phthalates, parabens + more - oh my!

Despite Canada having regulations of what can be in your beauty + health products, there are thousands of products that contain harmful + toxic ingredients - the most common being synthetic dyes and chemical scents named as "fragrance" or "parfum" which are known to cause asthma, cancer, neurotoxicity, and disrupt your endocrine (hormone) + reproductive systems.

Phthalates are a large group of chemicals used in products ranging from plastics to household supplies to skin + beauty care to automotive and pest control products. How is a substance that is used in automotive and pest control products safe to use on your body?

Parabens are preservative ingredients used in products, and the Environmental Working Group (EWG) states "parabens can act like the hormone estrogen in the body and disrupt the normal function of hormone systems affecting male and female reproductive system functioning, reproductive development, fertility and birth outcomes, and can interfere with the production of hormones."

Yikes - that's a BIG no for me, thanks!

Hormones play a significant role in mental health + wellness, as well as skin health + wellness - why would we use products that knowingly interfere with those systems?
